Just a short five minute drive away is Richmond perched on a hill high above the fast flowing river Swale, where there is plenty to explore, from its Norman Castle with fantastic views from the top to the unique Georgian Theatre Royal, in its original state seating only 214 people and has regular visits from the the royal Shakespeare’s company. A few miles further and you can find yourself in the midst of James Herriot country, the Yorkshire Dales, head up to Arkengarthdale or England’s highest pub Tan Hill, Reeth famous for its lovely walks or the market towns around at Beadale and Leyburn all within a fifteen to twenty min drive
If you fancy a more Urban experience, the Cities of Durham 30 min Beamish museum about 40 min and Newcastle 60 min. drive North, with Harrogate and York the same Southbound.Whitby on the coast famous for its fish and chips about an hour away
